Brand photography was taken at the actual Black Dahlia house in Hollywood. This house was constructed with Mayan architectural elements by Frank Lloyd Wright’s eldest son, and (sometimes eerily) appears to change shape based on vantage point and time of day.
This infamous house was the main inspiration for the packaging, with the facade of the box uniquely comprising of two panels. It tricks the viewer’s eyes into seeing different aspects of the design from different angles (as well as creating a larger front panel). The border elements are reminiscent of architectural details from the famed estate.
In order to be cost conscious with the packaging, we created a system in which the box is common to all the flavors. A simple label and symbol combination are applied to give each box its unique specification.
