Billed as the first Web 2.0 browser, Flock integrates social networking features directly into its interface. A constant “stream” of data from Facebook, Myspace, Yahoo, and more is accessable while you surf.

With an aptly fitting name, there were a number of visual metaphors to draw inspiration from; flight, swarming and migration—as well as convergence. The resulting icon incorporated several of these concepts into a single icon. A lowercase f letterform appears within a glider shape, whose overlapping form is a sublte reminder of a clip, gathering multiple items together.

The identity’s primary touchpoint is within the applications menu with each respective operating system, so maintaining a distinctive color, and shape from other browsers was crucial. Icons were developed for each of the application sizes down to the smallest favicon.
