Men of Mark

Featuring the work of world renowned photographer A.L.Coburn, this companion book to the Mark Twain House & Museum’s, Men of Mark: Pioneers of Modernism, exhibit is filled with unbelievable photographs and historical facts.

A huge supporter, George Bernhard Shaw called Coburn “the greatest photographer in the world” in 1907. The cover prominently features Shaw posing as Rodin’s “The Thinker”.

In depth essays by experts and museum curators are offset by historical photographs both Coburn’s and others throughout the 90 pages. A muted palette of black, white and cream reflect the warm nature of the Photogravure technique employed by Coburn.
