BLACK DAHLIA BRAND IDENTITY & PACKAGING

Black Dahlia creates inspired hemp-infused products with a focus on groundbreaking science, ethically-sourced botanicals and conscientious craftsmanship.

With innovative collaborations with celebrated chefs in Los Angeles, to renowned perfumiers in New York and Paris, we created a brand that reflects both luxury as well as innovation.

ALCHEMY COLLECTION

Black Dahlia’s CBD offering includes a duo of perfumes by Folie à Plusieurs — one to bring you through the day, the other to carry you into the night.

For the design of the packaging, we integrated the symbolism of the Philosopher’s Stone, from which alchemists believed one could turn ordinary metals into precious ones. (Not to mention that whole attaining  “everlasting life” thing).

The bottles make use of their transparency, with the gold icon showing through from the back, creating a depth that shifts depending on perspective. The boxes open like a book, symbolizing the knowledge held within.

BLACK DAHLIA coLLECTION

The Black Dahlia line of products has expanded since 2019, and with it, the flexibility of our design system remains apparent. Its consistent application has created a seamless system that is distinct and memorable.

SOWDEN HOUSE

The Black Dahlia house in Hollywood is the original inspiration for the brand. This house was constructed with Mayan architectural elements by Frank Lloyd Wright’s eldest son, and (sometimes eerily) appears to change shape based on vantage point and time of day. The unique angular architecture was the initial inspiration for the packaging and various design elements.

PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE

The style of the photography is inspired by the dreamy lightscapes at the Snowden House and the botanicals that inspire the collection. The products, as well as supporting imagery, were shot so the end result would be seamlessly cohesive.
