Inspired by the vibrant Mexico City neighborhood of the same name, this restaurant embraces the diverse mix of old and new cultural influences that continue to shape the city’s diverse landscape.
HISTORICAL INSPIRATION
The coasters are inspired by the fortune telling birds in Mexico that select folded paper fortunes for tourists as they approach.
The matches reference a luchador, with the angry flames revealing themselves as the matches are consumed.
A RICH AND VARIED BACKDROP
In Mexico City, signage is typically hand painted on walls, whitewashed, and painted again for generations—creating a rich and colorful backdrop. The resulting brand identity system reflects this eclecticism—all typography for menus, signage and other materials were hand-painted, stamped, stenciled or drawn creating an authentic mix-matched continuity.
